  • In Spain, more than 53% of adults between 25 and 60 years of age are overweight, with 14.5% of these having a Body Mass Index of more than 30, which is categorized as being obese.
  • It is estimated that 50% of workers in Spain do not get enough sleep, with 30% of these suffering from insomnia problems.
  • 73% of Spanish people are sedentary, and this physical inactivity represents a cost to Spain of 990 million euros because of its direct impact on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and colon and breast cancer.

This situation is associated with an increase in health-associated costs both for companies and for governments.

Good stress management is about detecting and preventing stress as well as the application of a range of techniques, skills and strategies for managing and avoiding stress.

Sleep and therefore rest are associated with important benefits in terms of learning and memory. Rest/sleep acts as a reset button that loosens neural connections, leaving the brain ready for future learning activities.

Cigna Wellbeing Solutions consists of a range of medically and scientifically validated elements across the spectrum.

All the components of Cigna Wellbeing Solutions have been carefully developed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, experts in social communication, sociologists, psychologists, etc., who follow the transtheoretical model of change in order to facilitate the adoption of new habits in a sustainable manner. 

Cigna Wellbeing Solutions is flexible and has a modular design so it can be adapted to the individual needs of each company. It involves three stages:

DIAGNOSIS

A Health Assessment is carried out for all employees during which information is collected about 13 indicators relating to lifestyle. It also includes a series of biometric questions.

Once the employee has completed the Health Assessment, he/she receives a personal report which includes an in-depth review of the employee's habits, identifying those that are the main risks. In addition, information and useful advice are provided on what to do to improve each area and prevent the development of chronic illnesses.

ASSESSMENT

Using the aggregated data and in accordance with the strictest data protection policy, a report is produced on the organization’s state of health and wellbeing with a view to identifying the main factors that affect the employees in particular and the organization in general.

These reports describe the impact of health on competitiveness, productivity, staff absenteeism, job satisfaction and staff turnover for the organization analysed.

The assessment reports have the key role of providing scientific evidence as a basis for proposing recommendations to the company for the design of an implementation strategy connecting personal health with performance, absenteeism or job satisfaction.

IMPLEMENTATION

According to the results obtained in the Company report, Cigna Wellbeing Solutions proposes a strategy for the implementation of actions and personalized programmes for each company based on the areas of risk identified.
